Announcing Camden Enrollment's annual list of summer programs, updated for 2019! Many schools and community organizations throughout Camden offer great opportunities to keep your child learning and having fun all summer. Contact the programs directly for more information.

K-8 programs:


  • Travel the Universe this summer with the magic of the Edelman Planetarium! The Rowan University ASTRO Camp is a five-day, non-residential summer program that introduces students to astronomy and the excitement of scientific discovery. Students will partake in hands-on STEM activities in astronomy and related physics. View the starry skies and constellations of the Northern Hemisphere, as well as the less familiar magnificent skies of Tahiti, Australia, and Antarctica in our Edelman Planetarium! Other planned activities include: Learning how to identify constellations, stars, planets, asteroids, and galaxies. Constructing and launching low-gravity lunar and planetary landers to demonstrate low gravity on acceleration, weight, and Olympic jump height possibilities! Using telescopes and cell phone adapters to view and photograph the sun. (Personal cell phone may be used but instructor cells phones are available for student use.) Preparing a daily astrophotography if sunspots are visible. Using the award-winning Starry Night Computer Program to view future solar and lunar eclipses, land on the moon at Lunar Base Aristillus to view the Earth in the dark Lunar sky, and to land on selected planets and asteroids of the solar system. Introductory Trainer Drone Flights and activities will be featured, weather permitting. While here, students will have the unique opportunity to experience the college environment with lunch at the Rowan University dining hall.

Camden City Garden Club

  • Offering an exciting and informative hands-on culinary program to Camden residents. Learn how to grow your own soup and salad garden, prepare delicious and healthy soups and salads with produce you grow. Will hold a total of six workshops which is taught by Camden Children's Garden staff and award winning Master Chef and a professor of the allied health from Philadelphia Community College. Make new friends, learn new cooking skills and share!
  • Open to Camden residents ages 10 - adult.
  • Free of charge!

Camden City School District Summer School Programs

  • Offering students summer enrichment, Bilingual, ESY, credit recovery and credit advancement programs.

Camden Dream CDF Freedom School

  • Offering six weeks of an integrated Literacy & Stem summer enrichment designed to expose young scholars to a world of Science,Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
  • For Camden students in rising 3rd through 8th grades.
  • Program dates: June 24th through August 2nd.

Camp Invincible

  • Offering literacy tutoring, math tutoring, social and environment learning, dance, coding, gymnastics and more.
  • For children ages 6 - 13 years old.
  • Program dates: July 8th - August 16th
  • Program hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm; before and after care available
  • Cost: $115 per week; child care subsidy vouchers are accepted

Camp Kumbaya (Summer Enrichment Program)

  • The Camp Kumbaya summer program combines academics, faith formation, athletics, arts, and just plain fun! The program’s goal is to ensure that the children are ready to be successful when entering their next grade level in September. Also offering an amazing Bible curriculum that incorporates songs and character building lessons.

Career Exploration Camps at Camden County Technical Schools

  • The Summer Career Camps at CCTS will provide your child the opportunity to learn introductory skills, form new relationships with their peers, and learn more about themselves and their future goals by exploring different career pathways. Campers will also learn 21st Century life skills such as: working collaboratively with other campers, practicing time management, presenting ideas and project status to campers and staff, and acquiring team building skills.

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Summer Robotics Camp

  • Learn to solve every day real world problems through exploration, team work and the use of multiple types of technology! The FLL Summer Robotics Camp is a five-day, non-residential robotics program at Rowan University's Glassboro campus. Our FLL camps integrate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education while learning to design, build, and program robots using LEGO technology. The FLL Beginner and Advanced camps learn robotics using the advanced and powerful LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3. Combining the versatility of the LEGO building system and intuitive drag-and-drop programming software, this adventure encourages teamwork, friendship, and creativity from day one. Students work as a team to complete challenges and games created specifically for EV3, today’s go-to robotics system for educators and hobbyists. This robot features improved digital sensors, a seven-state color-light sensor, new gyro sensors, touch sensors and an improved ultrasonic sensor. Students will leave with an understanding of the Engineering Design Process and the skills needed to build and program competitive robots. No prior programming experience required.

Life Assembly Youth Summer Program

  • An action packed summer camp that last roughly around 7 weeks. We take numerous trips throughout the week like Funplex, Dave & Buster, swimming, movies and more!
  • Ages: 6 - 14 years old
  • Program dates: July 1st - August 23rd; M-F, 7am - 6pm
  • Breakfast, lunch and snack provided.
  • $135 a week for one child; $$230 for two children; $270 for three children; four or more living within the home are free. Trip fees vary by age and T-shirt fee is $10 each

The Cause Summer Camp with the Center for Aquatic Sciences

  • If you attend Cooper's Poynt or live in Camden and are interested in Science, then Cause Camp is just for you! The Cause Summer Camp for 2019 will focus on the importance of our local WATERSHED. Campers will journey with Wendy and Wally; the Watershed Wranglers as we visit Newton Creek, Cooper River, Delaware River and end in the Atlantic Ocean! Campers will learn about the importance of water, water quality, bodies of water, where our water comes from and all the wonderful habitats, plants and animals that are found within each area we discover. The CAUSE Camp 2019 Summer Camp is FREE!
  • Registration is required. Forms can be picked up from the office or Mr. Chatman located at Cooper's Poynt School. On a first-come, first-served basis. *Must have finished K - 8th grade.

Urban Promise Summer Camps

  • UrbanPromise has offered summer camps to Camden's youth for over 30 years. Camp activities include STEM projects, arts and crafts, Bible study, weekly swimming trips, skating trips, kickball and basketball tournaments, mentoring and more.

  • Camps will run daily, Monday - Friday; July 1st - August 9th/ No camp on July 4th

City of Camden Summer Youth Internship Program

  • Offering summer youth employment as recreation aides and pool aides. Applicants must be residents in Camden.
  • Ages 14-17; Must be a returning high school student for the 2019-2020 school year.

Hopeworks 'N Camden

  • Is a nonprofit that works with Camden area youth to encourage then to get back into school and find a safe pathway to their future!
  • Offering youth, no longer in school, with web design training and job opportunities in a supportive setting. Curriculum includes progressive technical training in web development code, graphic design (Photoshop), and advanced HTML programs experience.
  • Students will 1.) Learn coding & web design, 2.) earn a paid internship, 3.) get academic support, 4.) earn progress stipends working through training modules.

Rowan's Innovative Summer Cyber (RISC) Camp and Workshop

  • The Department of Computer Science at Rowan University is hosting two non-residential cybersecurity summer programs: the RISC Camp for high school students and the RISC Workshop for high school teachers. These programs are generously funded by the National Science Foundation and will be led by Dr. Vahid Haydari, Director of the Center for Cybersecurity Education and Research at Rowan University. Each is a five day program that provides an introduction to the fundamentals of cybersecurity and Internet of Things (IOT) through a combination of instructions and hands-on activities. No experience in cybersecurity or computer programming is needed to apply.
  • RISC Camp is for high school students in grades 9th - 12th. - Program dates: Monday, July 8, 2019 - Friday, July 12, 2019.

  • The academy combines academic excellence and engaging extracurricular activities with supportive guidance and supervision. With three distinct program options, the STEAM Academy offers high-achieving students the opportunity to experience college life while preparing them for their futures. Students will gain valuable insight and practical tools that will better equip them to achieve their personal, educational and career goals. We have recently been rated top 30 pre-college summer programs for 2019 through College Consensus.

Teen Sharp Summer Intensive Program

  • TeenSharp Summer Intensives are designed to help students remain engaged academically during the summer and practice habits of academic success. Students will take Algebra I and English courses followed by a workshop on study skills and habits.

The Salvation Army Camp Kroc

  • The Salvation Army Kroc Center - Camden is hiring for Summer camp Counselors! Develop leadership and job skills and have a little fun while getting hands-on experience working with urban youth at our Kroc -Camden summer camp. Students will receive the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and teens, great experience for college students studying education, social work or urban and youth ministry.
